The Hardest Thing by 98°
I was playing Tetris, as I often do before sleeping, and the 98° earworm started singing this song.
I remember hearing it back when I was in elementary school. Couldn't understand any of it, but I've always thought it was about a young couple who can't be together because they were young. Again, I was a kid when I listened to it.
Now, at 29, I unconsciously started deciphering it again.
For years, I've always wondered why he needed to lie if he was in love with this person, and if she deserved better.
Why was his hands tied and his heart not free-- oh...
It was there all along, he was talking about two different people in the chorus.
I am putting this in my "Songs about infidelity" playlist.
I strongly believe that infidelity is unacceptable, and I'm fortunate enough to not have been surrounded by people who do this. However, I cannot deny how great of a song comes out of these situations.
They are annoyingly addictive. I'd list down songs on this topic in a different post to prove a point.
Just to make things clear - I do not condone infidelity, but cheaters be writing good songs.
