Two-hour Notice
The first time I went outside of my home last week is on Thursday when a good friend of mine, CH, called me to say that his boyfriend won't be able to make it to the black-tie event because of a medical emergency, and he's inviting me to come with him to the event. It was at 12 noon; we need to be checked in by 2 PM. Not to mention, I literally just woke up and was cooking my breakfast.
It was a quick process. I showered quickly, fixed my hair. Packed my essentials and waited for him to arrive.
We drove half an hour to get to Alabang. Fixed our outfits. Put on make-up. Then went to the venue at around 5 PM. It was raining cats and dogs.
My friend, C, was wearing a tuxedo. I was wearing a red cocktail dress. I was way underdressed, but I looked pretty anyways.
It was an event celebrating the 20th anniversary of an environmental department of an international association of nations.
Needless to say, it was filled with very important people. My friend is one of those.
He is a journalist for the province. Since 4 years ago, he worked tirelessly to get information from different public departments and wrote about them, set up events for them, so on and so forth. That evening, he will be receiving a certificate of appreciation for him and his team for supporting the causes of this department. I couldn't be prouder!
We enjoyed the buffet and the music. Jona and Erik Santos were there.
Several other journalists and NGOs were there as well. It was a good reminder of the life I left behind as a former student of journalism.
In the evening, I had to work for a bit, then we headed out for dinner. I convinced him to go to a wings place because I was craving chicken wings so bad. That's what indeed happened.
