What happened in June
One week in July, and here I am just finding the brain cells to write about the roller coaster that is June. Yet, I wasn't able to find any words to write the intro for this entry so let's end it here.
I got banned from a hotel I haven't been to
I haven't been to Europe but a certain hotel who happened to also have negative reviews because fo how rude the staff are, sent me the below email while trying to set up a birthday surprise for our client.

This will be a "I said, they said" situation, but if you choose to trust me, here's what I'm going to say: I did not deserve that message and I've been kind and respectful the entire ordeal.
I cannot wait to leave a review in Google I didn't even stay, but I think my thoughts about their customer service needs to be publicised properly somehow.
I finished the Totoro blanket
It took me a year to finish this birthday gift I crafted for my boyfriend. He's a huge fan of Totoro, and I'm proud to have added something to his collection!
I am in the process of publishing its pattern just for people who wants to make it too, maybe?

It was an experience! It took a lot of hooking, unravelling, and stretching, but it was all worth it. Despite it being a long project, I definitely see myself making another one. With that being said, I'm thinking of doing another blanket this year for my previous officemates who got married. I shall now look for an inspiration!
We watched 13 films this month

Amazing! I am in love with its pace, and how mindful each dialogue was. One of the horror films I loved for all time I must say. My main takeaway from this film is do not enter a stranger's house, always bring an umbrella, and always tell people where you will be heading!

This is not my favorite exorcist film, but this had an interesting take and my god, Sean Patrick Flanery's acting is A.MA.ZING. Although it has failed to convince me to go back to my Christian roots, it made me think about capital punishment. We don't have it in the Philippines, but it breaks my heart that it exists in other nations.

It is very creepy, very eerie. I loved how it's not that straight to the point with its story. It's cripplingly slow and it makes sure that every possible nerve of your being gets tingled until the end.

Another Tom Hanks movie that my boyfriend highly-recommended. I couldn't help but think of Lost the entire time, but wow. I admire how he was able to live for 3 years alone in an island (two if we count Wilson.) It got me thinking about how life moves on with or without you in it. The decision of his almost-fianceé is totally understandable for me, it was three years, and she doesn't even know whether he's going to come back or not. It is heartbreaking, still.

This is probably my favourite Eddie Murphy as of right now. It has taken a very serious matter, and showed a comedic side to it. Showing us that despite how hard they had it, they always found a way to entertain themselves. Personally, I couldn't write much about how much of a comedic masterpiece I think it is because of how depressing I think the film was, but it is a great film to watch.

Another Adam Sandler film which I actually got a lesson from! While it's important to let kids express themselves, it's also important to discipline them to let them know the right from wrong, otherwise, they'd be bamboozled with the sound of police car in every waking day of their adult life thinking "what did I do wrong?"

Another "brainless" movie. We were having dinner at my suegra's house. She hated the thought of watching this film, but my boyfriend insisted just to annoy her. I can't say much, it was an Adam Sandler's movie definitely. My biggest question is, how did they get Al Pacino to be there?

I know it's kind of lame that I'm only watching this classic now, but I'm happy I got to in a tiem I'd understand it. I am a firm believer that things you need will find you at the time you'd need it. I learned a lot of things, but let me highlight the things I liked least - Jenny. I know she has trauma, and the way she responded to the world is a result of how messed up she was. I understand what she has been through, but I still didn't like her. It was kind of depressing for me to think that Forrest only got to spend a few years with Jenny before she died and not on their healthier days. Do not let that comment stray you away from watching this masterpiece. I would love to rewatch it.

An amazing take on unforbidden love! That actually made me think about my science lessons as a student. What have I learned, you can get the best of different worlds and build an amazing thing out of it. This reminds me of my own relationship with us being on the two opposite sides of the world literally.

This has got to be my favourite film from this month! I ugly cried while watching the film, it was too much for my heart to handle. Even though I thought the “plot twist” unnecessary, and the kind of the detective to be highly-unlikely, and is devoid of reality, I love how the film is! People go through these things all the time, and we have no idea how heavy they’re carrying life until the last straw breaks you. Be kind, be patient.

This is the same as the category above. I like Eddie Murphy, and while this film is not the best film according to the public, I loved his versatility acting 3 characters in a film. I don't know what to feel about him acting as a Chinese guy, though. Good thing it was not released this year!

This is one of those "easy" films to watch. Ones that I like watching after a stressful day and would just like to shut my brain off before sleeping. What I learned from this film is to be more mindful and cautious about people you let into your life. This is a cliché, but again, beauty fades, pick personality!

This was probably too much for my non-financial brain, but it's an interesting way to show pople about how messy the housing situation was in the early 2000s, and it's easily a sure-fire way to lose trust with financial agents. I would like# to believe that there are better people out there, and that they genuinely believe in helping people do better in life.
We celebrated Father's Day - Argentinian style
Staying here made me realise that my family is rather peculiar. We don't really celebrate these types of occasions, and we don't get to visit our relatives often because they live far. However, my boyfriend's family is really loving, and from what I learned from class and from my Argentinian friends, it is a cultural thing.
I finished my Spanish Level 5 Class
This would be the last class I will be taking this year. For the rest of the year, I think I would self-study and maybe look for a regular tutor to practise more.
We went on winter date
I haven't been to a coffee shop with my boyfriend ever since I got here. There are not much cafeterĂas walking distance from our house and honestly-speaking, we like drinking coffee and eating facturas at home. But I asked him to go out because we haven't been out for weeks, and I'm curious how winter would feel like outside (it was cold lol.) We went to Cafe Martinez which I was told a very common coffee shop chain (reminds me of But first in the PH.)
That is the highlight of my June! I will be going home soon, a bittersweet moment I presume, and I would write about it in the next weeks.
