What happened in May
The temperature in Buenos Aires has dropped significantly, and this is going to be my first winter ever! The past few days have been freezingly cold, and I was struggling to get up. A lot of people around me say that this going to get worse, and I don't know what to feel about that. Scared, most probably.
But, with the cold weather, I also do my best to adjust to the coldest temperatures I've ever faced as a tropical girly. Life still went on, and here are the highlights of May!

I tried 2 new different burger restaurants!
Argentina is known for their beef, especially their steaks, but I'm more drawn to the another type of grilled beef, burger patties. This fact actually deserves a separate article because I really loved the burgers, but for a quick update, this month I go to try Desembarco and Coyote. My verdict will be coming soon!

I finished Overcooked 2
Special shoutout to my friend who partially bought the game for me! She convinced me to buy Overcooked! 2 so we can play together. It was nerve-wracking and is a good team building activity among friends! I enjoyed playing it so much that I obsessed with it for an entire week until I finished level 6 on my own - and you bet I did! Another star appeared (meaning you can reach a higher goal for each level) but I wasn't convinced to play to reach those. Not for now at least.

I've reached line 165/253 on my Totoro project
This also deserves an article on its own, and I promise to write it up as soon as I finish the blanket.
I've been working on it for more than a year now, it includes the downtime and rests (which is longer than necessary I must say). Me being in Argentina is the perfect time to continue doing it because I have less social engagements! I aim to finish it by the second week of June, before winter officially starts.

I tried a new snack, Paragüita and we ate Locro
My boyfriend's mom is so thoughtful. She bought me Paragüita from a conversation we randomly had one afternoon. My boyfriend mentioned that we didn't have these little chocolate umbrellas in the Philippines so she bought me one!
I was told that locro is eaten on the 25th of June with your family so we scoured Pedidosya to find a restaurant that sells one, and we weren't disappointed! We bought it from this place called Potenza. They also have great Arroz con Pollo! Highly recommended!

I watched 10 films
We're back on the film streak! We watched the following films this month. I'm also adding a brief reaction to each of them on my monthly updates starting now! Spoiler alert!!!

The Maze Runner
Maze Runner 2: Scorch Trials
The Signal
Interesting story! But I clearly need to watch the entire series to understand every detail. Also, I don't know if this is a controversial opinion, but I wished the story focused more on the maze runners, and how they ran daily mapping the maze.
We jokingly say that the sequel is a bit of a misnomer because they're not running in a maze anymore, but I guess having to run away from WCKD is a maze in and on itself. This however did not convince me to watch the third installment.
Okay. What? I think some parts of the movie are disconnected. The part where we see them becoming aliens is kind of short, I wish it were expanded.

We're the Millers
Barbarian
Asteroid City
This film is crazy, stupid, and just overall entertaining. I think this is the craziest movie Jennifer Anniston has been in, I haven't watched a lot however, but I'm feeling strongly about my opinion.
I almost liked Barbarian so I wrote an entire essay about it here.
This is the second Wes Anderson film I've watched after the Grand Budapest Hotel. The aesthetic is brilliant, of course it is, but I realised I'm not a huge fan of Anderson's story telling. I know a lot of people are a huge fan of his works, and I respect that, but I might just be a bit slow to not enjoy it. One can only know.

El Secreto
de Sus Ojos
28 Days Later
Waterworld
This is probably the most iconic Argentinian film I know because almost everyone I talked to told me I need to watch this, so I did. It riddled with a lot of emotions until the very last minute of the film. Definitely a must-watch!
I'm not a huge fan of zombie films but ever since I lived with my boyfriend, that is starting to change. With that being said, this is my favourite zombie film as of now. I like how it focused on the good and worst of having a zombie apocalypse.
This is my boyfriend's favourite film, and I found the premise very interesting! It appears to be the opposite apocalypse that everyone imagines. Instead of the world being burned to the ground, in Waterworld, it sunk! I enjoyed all the running, but I did wish there was more nuance to it.
Mickey 17
DAMN. I loved every bit of this film, especially having to watch Robert Pattinsons alter egos in the same screen. I think this is the most interesting alien invasion film - humans invading another planet. We are the aliens!
We went shopping at Avellaneda
Winter is coming, and I only brought tropical clothes because I thought I'd be home by February. This entire time, I've been wearing my boyfriend's hoodies and shirts, so we finally went shopping for me. We spent around 200 USD, and 80% of those are just for me!

Plans for Next Month
June means counting down to my last days in Argentina this year, I would have to wait longer to come back, but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It makes me sad thinking about it, but I'm always excited to see what tomorrow will be.
