The Dark Rant

Dark was great, until it wasn’t You will find that majority of the things that I watch are from my now husband’s list of recommendations. One series we started last year was “Dark” from Netflix. I wasn’t too enticed by the first episode, so we left it, and picked it up again a year later. Now, we just finished all the three seasons of the show, and I have so much I wanted to express. Scrolling through Reddit taught me that my opinion might be in the minority. (SPOILER ALERT!) See, the first season was amazing! It’s filled with thousands of mysteries that you just can’t walk away from. Who is this dead kid with a burnt eye? Where has Mikkel gone? Why did Jonas dad killed himself? To have that much drama in a small town is always intriguing. I was clutching my pearls with every episode of season 1, and we finished the entire thing in one sitting! Then season 2 happened, and we started drifting away a bit. The mysteries that gripped us on the first season suddenly became irrelevant. My husband requested us to stop watching the thing, but I was already there, I was already subscribed to Netflix, might as well finish the thing. I personally find the last season to be less enticing than the previous one. It felt like we were circling in a dark room, not knowing where to go. *wink wink Now, where did things go wrong? Everything went downhill when we started forgetting about Mikkel, and the other kids who were lost. I can't pretend I am not heartbroken when we started brushing off Mikkel, even moreso when we didn't hear anything about Erik. Mikkel didn't reunite with his family. Mads and Erik were killed, and their parents didn't even know. I hated that they were treated as a collateral damage while they figure out how to navigate the crazy loop of time travel.

I wish they made this the center. I wish they've gone because they were highly involved and have a bigger purpose in the show.

We spent 16 episodes circling around what we already know In season 2 and season 3, we're exactly circling around two different worlds whose leaders aim to “change” things, and I was so frustrating. Both of them are following self-serving goals, of livinh, but both Adam and Eva are to fucking old to be wishing they should live. They've already in their lifetimes, why do they need to be living more? Crazy!

I do not condone incest Also, why, for the love of everything good in this world are we expected to root for this incestous couple? Jonas has more things to do than simp over his aunt. They crossed time and worlds to be fucking together when they shouldn't be. It aggravates me. Jonas knew better. We can't be expecting the heart to want what it wants, because then we'd be doing a lot of unacceptable things. I can go on about this on a different time, but damn, Jonas. Think???

Also, after everything that we've been through the series, you are telling me that Jonas and Martha are actually meant to be with each other? That it's not really a story of mystery of why kids are missing in Winden? It's about a simp of a nephew pining for his aunt?

All in all Dark is a good series. The casting was on point. The acting was topnotch. Everything was great, except for the story. I wish we've gone simpler especially if you already have a complicated topic.
